The MYBW will be hosting its flagship hackathon event, a pitch day to connect up and coming projects with potential investors, as well as a regulatory roundtable discussion for industry experts to talk on the evolving policy landscape around crypto and Web3 in several parts of the world. The ticket prices for the event ranges from $18 to $388, the official website for the event shows.
This year as part of the event, the Malaysian government is looking to lead discussions on Web3 use cases — seeking to foster strategic collaborations and investment opportunities in blockchain sectors including crypto, metaverse, NFTs, and other Web3 elements.
“Public-private partnerships for initiatives like MYBW reflect a broader national vision to cultivate innovation,” the statement quoted YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Malaysia’s Minister of Digital as saying. Deo will also be delivering a keynote speech at the week-long event that is slated to conclude on July 22.
Malaysia wishes to soon incubate a native blockchain platform akin to the likes of Etherscan and Coingecko among others, the post by Lydian Labs added.
In recent times, Malaysia has tried to incorporate blockchain into some of its internal systems. In February this year, for instance, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) reportedly said that it was turning to technologies like blockchain and AI to deal better with identifying and curbing cases of corruption.
Back in January, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with UAE officials during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025) in order to discuss the roadmap towards legalising cryptocurrencies under a supportive legislative framework.
The country’s ministry of tourism, arts, and culture will also be collaborating on organising the MYBW to offer networking opportunities and stacked activities for local and international visitors during the events.
