Circle has stepped into a partnership with Crossmint to integrate programmable money like stablecoins into the expanding AI fabric. The stablecoin firm and the crypto infrastructure company believe that the next phase of money is built for machines as much as its created for humans. Crossmint anticipates that AI agents will become key crucial elements of onchain apps.

“We’re laying the foundation for a new era of finance: one where money moves near-instantly, access is global, and systems are built for both humans and machines,” an official statement by Crossmint said on September 24.

The partnership will essentially combine Crossmint Wallets and agentic payment onramps with USDC — which is a regulated, fully reserved stablecoin managed by Circle.

Rodri Fernandez, the co-founder of Crossmint also confirmed the development on X.

“Anyone can launch financial products in days. Money became programmable. Agents are taking over the economy. The world is about to change in unimaginable ways,” Fernandez said.

An advanced branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI), agentic AI is capable of learning engagement and decision-making patterns, allowing it to perform tasks without human supervision.

The use of agentic AI, as per PwC, is expected to bring more efficiency to the management of complex, multi-layer workflow systems with intelligent insights and reduced time requirements — at a lesser cost.

As far as stablecoins are concerned, the regulatory clarity around these fiat-pegged tokens have rapidly evolved in recent times. The U.S., for instance, has passed the stablecoin-focussed GENUIS Act that lists the dos and don’ts for stablecoin issuers in order to make the tokens safe for utility purposes.

Crossmint has committed that it will be deepening its engagement with stablecoins in the coming times to bring near-instant and low cost cross-border transaction alternatives to traditional methods.
