Lamina1, the blockchain content platform founded by sci-fi author Neal Stephenson, has partnered with Consensys’ Layer-2 network Linea to introduce Spaces, a platform for creator-owned intellectual property (IP) and interactive storytelling on Ethereum.
The collaboration aims to redefine digital storytelling by giving creators full control over their IP while connecting directly with their communities. Investments from Joe Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum and CEO of Consensys, along with Systemic Ventures, support the initiative.

Lamina1, launched in 2022, enables artists, writers, and developers to maintain ownership of their work while engaging fans in the creative process. Since its inception, the platform has attracted over 150,000 active addresses.
Spaces debuts with Artefact on Linea
The first product within Spaces is Artefact, developed by Stephenson, Weta Workshop, and Lamina1. The project is a role-playing experience set in a post-AI world, where players join factions, collect data fragments, and influence the narrative’s progression.

User data, digital assets, and creative IP on Linea are further protected by Verax, an attestation platform that attaches verifiable credentials to digital creations, ensuring authenticity and ownership.
Token incentives and ecosystem growth
Following Linea’s Token Generation Event, Lubin indicated that long-term holders of the LINEA token may qualify for future airdrops from Consensys or associated projects. The announcement addresses community concerns about the token’s utility, including calls for staking or lending features.
The integration of Spaces on Linea underscores the growing momentum for creative applications within Ethereum’s Layer-2 ecosystem, combining scalability, low fees, and secure onchain verification.
