Ethereum announced late yesterday May 07, 2025 via X that the network’s much awaited Pectra upgrade has gone live.
Ethereum developers have officially activated the network’s Pectra upgrade, activating 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals on the mainnet and marking the blockchain’s most significant overhaul since the Merge in 2022.

Pectra is expected to bring smart accounts, higher staking limits and improved scalability through key EIPs. One of the most notable changes is the increase in the maximum staking limit from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH. This adjustment is designed to streamline staking operations by allowing stakers ranging from individual validators to large institutions, to consolidate their efforts under a single node, rather than managing multiple validators.
Ethereum successfully crossed the designated upgrade slot at 10:05 UTC and achieved finality approximately 12 minutes later, signaling a smooth deployment after two previously turbulent testnet runs.
