Hotel management Japanese-based firm Metaplanet bought a total of 555 BTC, according to a company notice on May 7, 2025. This latest acquisition brings the company’s holdings to 5,555 bitcoins. 

The company revealed it spent 7.67 billion yen to fund this latest acquisition. issuing its 13th Series of Ordinary Bonds on May 7. 

This move helps Metaplanet convert its cash to digital assets at a time of macroeconomic uncertainty. According to CoinGecko, Metaplanet is the tenth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. 

The company filing also shows that Metaplanet has grown its holdings from 398.832 bitcoins on September 30, 2024, to 5,555 bitcoins on May 7, 2025. Metaplanet’s strategy of hodling bitcoin has provided BTC yields of 41.7% in Q3 2024, 309.8% in Q4 2024, 95.6% in Q1 2025, and 21% in Q2 2025 on a QTD basis, as the quarter is not over yet.

Bitcoin was trading at a price of $96,904.1 at the time of reporting, up 3.68% on a YTD basis.

Metaplanet’s share price has grown considerably this year and is up 33.43% on a YTD basis.
