Immersive VR experience: exploring Abu Dhabi’s AI-driven future

For the first time at GITEX, Abu Dhabi introduced a fully immersive VR experience, where visitors could adopt six different personas including students, business owners, working parents, tourists, investors, and government employees to experience how AI transforms daily life across sectors.
The experience offered a hands-on look into the emirate’s digital future, blending innovation and inclusivity through realistic, AI-enhanced simulations.

Smart tourism and health innovations take center stage

The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) unveiled two major initiatives:

  • Smart Hotel Check-In: Uses facial recognition for secure, contactless, and multilingual hotel check-ins — reducing delays and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • VX Monitoring Hub: A real-time analytics platform monitoring every stage of Abu Dhabi’s tourism journey, offering insights that improve services and visitor satisfaction.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) also launched Population Health Intelligence, an AI-powered digital twin of the emirate’s healthcare system. This innovation forecasts health risks, models interventions, and supports preventive healthcare strategies.
Additionally, DoH introduced TAMM Sahetna Spaces, integrating 1,100 public and private health services into a unified digital portal. Through TAMM, residents can access medical records, insurance, prescriptions, and telehealth services simplifying healthcare management and promoting wellness.

Quantum breakthroughs and AI-powered safety systems

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), alongside ADNOC, ASPIRE, and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), launched the UAE’s first quantum computing system for the energy sector. This initiative uses quantum algorithms to optimize energy efficiency, cut emissions, and advance ADNOC’s Net Zero by 2045 strategy.

ATRC also revealed a drone-powered disaster response system, integrating manual, long-range, and swarm-based drones to deliver real-time aerial intelligence during emergencies.

Further AI-driven safety partnerships included:

  • Abu Dhabi Police x e&: Next-generation AI and IoT-enabled communications infrastructure for safer, smarter cities.
  • Family Development Foundation x Etisalat: AI-based senior citizen safety monitoring system with real-time alerts and emergency response.
  • Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority: Six new infrastructure agreements supporting advanced emergency equipment, command systems, and the debut of the RAAD Vehicle, a 4×4 AI-enhanced fire command platform designed for off-road operations.

Setting global standards for AI governance

Abu Dhabi’s presence at GITEX Global 2025 highlights its unified digital governance approach, demonstrating how AI can create more human-centered, efficient, and intelligent public systems.
