At GITEX Global 2025, the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), in partnership with e&, announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Unified Government Data Centre, a flagship project set to anchor the emirate’s transformation into the world’s first AI-native government.
Located in Khalifa City, the facility will act as the central hub for Abu Dhabi’s government digital infrastructure, backed by a dedicated Disaster Recovery site in Al Ain. Together, the two sites offer a combined 19 megawatts of secure, AI-ready capacity to host and manage mission-critical data.
A foundation for Abu Dhabi’s AI-native vision
His Excellency Wesam Lootah, Director General at DGE, emphasized that the new data centre represents a cornerstone for the emirate’s transition toward a fully AI-native government.

The ability to build and scale securely and at speed depends on trusted, unified infrastructure. This centre ensures every government entity can innovate confidently on shared, sovereign data strengthening collaboration and accelerating transformation.

The collaboration moves AI from pilot projects to policy-grade systems, enhancing service quality, fostering Emirati digital talent, and building an open innovation ecosystem across government.
Technical capacity and sustainability
The Unified Government Data Centre will bring together 40+ Abu Dhabi Government entities under a single, secure, and AI-optimized infrastructure.
It will provide Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and co-location services, offering:
- 99.982% uptime and fault-tolerant architecture,
- Redundant power and chilled-water cooling systems,
- Compliance with global and local data protection standards,
- Integration of renewable energy sources, targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio of 1.85, supporting sustainable operations.
These features ensure service continuity, confidential data protection, and low environmental impact, in line with the AED 13 billion Abu Dhabi Digital Strategy.
Next steps and global positioning
Migration of all government data to the new facility will begin in Q1 2026, enabling seamless integration and unified digital services across entities.
