Mirko Horn, Partner at Mikros Family Office, is a seasoned investor and liquidity source who connects conventional finance with contemporary market prospects. In this conversation, he expresses his views on market trends, the changing function of family offices, and the significance of liquidity in the current investment environment.

Everyone in this place discusses AI, RWA, and infrastructure. From your perspective, what do you consider the most exaggerated story in crypto at the moment and what’s the overlooked idea you believe is being ignored

The most overrated thesis today is definitely AI and crypto as we did not see any protocol that was able to scale and use artificial intelligence meaningfully in crypto. This does not mean its not going to happen, I believe it is just not there yet and overvalued in the market.
I am most bullish on protocols solving cross-chain liquidity and building modular scalable infrastructure as I see this as the biggest problem plaguing crypto today. Today people still think its a smaller issue then it is but there are extremely ambitious protocols like Euclid Protocol working on solutions that will grab the entire market share when its time.

As you walk the floor and listen to panels, what’s the most significant signal you’ve discerned regarding the industry’s future direction

I think the industry is heading in an institutional direction where companies and countries are adopting blockchain and cryptocurrency. I knew this time would come and this year the event and talks proved my point. Instutions need blockchain and are actively building and deploying capital into the space.

Do you perceive events like Token2049 merely as opportunities for dealmaking, or do they genuinely influence your long-term perspective and confidence in the crypto industry

There is definitely a lot of deals that happen at the main and side events. But I love to listen to the major panels as it introduces the next major focus and where all the mindshare is. It helps me be comfortable with the safety of my investments and if they are heading in the right direction, also for the projects to look at next.

In contrast to conventional venture capital or private equity, cryptocurrency markets operate with liquidity around the clock. How do you manage the lure of quick exits alongside the commitment to holding for the long term

When I invest, I am with the founder for the long term. Our decisions are the family office are long term bets and do not look at short term exits, I think this hurts the protocol and everything they have built so far.
