- The Imagine feature is available on the Grok app

Elon Musk has rolled out an AI video making feature called Grok Imagine to let its SuperGrok and Premium+ users convert images and doodles into short videos based on simple prompts. After announcing the feature earlier this week, Musk made the video generation feature free to use for Grok users in the U.S.
xAI, Musk’s AI company that oversees developments around Grok, started rolling out the beta version of the video generation feature, starting with iOS users. On Thursday, August 7, reports said that the Grok app on Android devices has also started reflecting the Imagine option.
The official X handle of Coinbase, on Thursday, joined the viral Grok Imagine trend and posted an AI generated video of what looked like a doodle of a wizard flying on a BTC-branded broom. OKX also stepped into the trial arena for Imagine on Thursday.

Within days of its launch, Musk claimed that the per day usage of the Imagine feature on Grok is logging a growth of 50 percent. He added that xAI is working to take its audio quality from “passable” to “epic”.
Answering to CoinHeadlines, the Grok chatbot said its Imagine feature can produce short videos with sounds in under 30 seconds. It further said that the exact time of creating the video could vary depending on the complexities of prompts and processing demands.
“Videos are capped at six seconds, similar to the Vine platform’s format,” Grok said, referring to Musk’s recently announced plans of reviving the OG video platform Vine, that went defunct in 2017 owing to financial crunches and increased market competition with apps like TikTok.
xAI has added a mode called “Spicy” to Imagine to let users create the “Not Safe for Work (NSFW)” kind of content. This mode essentially lets users generate what Engadget described as “sexualized content” based on their prompts.
Details on more development on Grok Imagine remain awaited for now.
Google’s Veo 3 AI video model and OpenAI’s Sora, meanwhile, are other similar AI video generating players that Grok Imagine would be competing against in the market.
