The deal struck represents a collaboration between two of the most well-known software companies and is expected to create new jobs across a variety of roles.

OpenAI currently operates a Stargate 1 site in Abilene, Texas, and the new partnership brings data center capacity for Stargate to over 5 GW, which means a production of over 2 million chips. OpenAI estimates that the initiative will create over 100,000 jobs across construction and operation roles in the U.S.

The AI company has multiple collaborations on the table with the U.S. government, including a $200 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.

The rollout comes after Sam Altman announced the debut of OpenAI agent, a new feature for paid subscribers that automates complex tasks requiring interaction with websites.
