MetaMask has integrated with Solana, allowing transactions and interactions with other Solana-based applications through its wallet. This is the first time MetaMask has enabled a non-EVM network (the first network that doesn’t use Ethereum’s computation engine). This means that with the latest version of MetaMask Extension, you can use Solana natively, right alongside your Ethereum accounts, all in one interface.
The crypto-wallet platform, which has over 100 million annual users, was Ethereum network’s most-used browser wallet. But it plans to add more non-EVM networks over the coming months, a blog post stated. Currently integrated only for desktop use, Solana is slated to go live on the MetaMask mobile app in the coming weeks.

In its X post, MetaMask asked users to get the latest version of MetaMask Extension (v12.18). It will then give you a list of options of networks to choose from. Once connected to Solana dapps, you will need to click on the “View More Wallets” dropdown to see the MetaMask option. The blog post also states that the onramp will let you buy tokens at the best prices, or you can simply bridge cryptocurrencies that you already own from Ethereum to Solana.
Touting itself as crypto’s most secure wallet for nearly a decade on EVM chains, Metamask hopes to bring that same ironclad protection on Solana too. MetaMask is a software cryptocurrency wallet developed by Consensys, a blockchain software company, in 2016.
