Binance founder Changpeng Zhao ‘CZ’ took to X to address confusion surrounding the viral memecoin $GIGGLE. He stated that the token is not the official coin launched by the Giggle Academy and that he wasn’t aware of ‘who launched it’. Giggle Academy is CZ’s edutech initiative focused on free global education.
Despite the lack of affiliation, Binance announced it would donate 50% of all transaction fees generated from the Giggle Fund to support charitable projects. Giggle Fund is a charity-focused memecoin on BNB Smart Chain that converts trading fees into donations for children’s education via Giggle Academy, the blog post read.
Donation breakdown from Giggle Fund’s trading fees
The exchange said that starting December 2025, it will donate 50% of all transaction fees generated from Giggle Fund’s Spot and Margin trading pairs to support charitable projects championed by Giggle Fund. Fees collected in other tokens (e.g., USDT, USDC, TRY) will be converted to $GIGGLE using real-time exchange rates on Binance. On the first day of each month, Binance will calculate the total trading fees from the previous month. It also noted that the GIGGLE donation mechanism will not affect trading fees on GIGGLE Spot and Margin trading pairs.
Giggle Academy’s donations surge
Since the launch of the Giggle token, Giggle Academy has amassed over $11 million in BNB donations. This figure is largely driven by trading fees and community contributions. In fact, Giggle Academy reportedly claimed $1 million in donations within 12 hours of opening its donation channel. GIGGLE’s model includes a transaction fee tax of ~5%, which the Academy will donate to educational platforms.
