Crypto.com has secured the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, which is the international standard for an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS). The Singapore-based exchange has become the first digital assets firm internationally to have bagged the certification as it looks to deploy AI governance across its services in the coming year.
Companies working in AI can apply for this certification. The accreditation is only granted after a formal audit of the applicant’s AI management practices.
Commenting on the development, the exchange’s Chief Information Security Officer, Jason Lau said that Crypto.com is planning to scale their AI-powered infrastructure.
“This ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification is a testament to our industry leadership in security and responsible AI to ensuring that every AI system we develop and deploy is secure, transparent, and aligned with emerging regulatory expectations,” Lau said.
The ISO/IEC 42001:2023 standard was officially published on December 18, 2023. As per information published by UAE’s Eminence Consultancy, the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 standard lays focus on analyzing the governance, transparency, and risk management provisions for AI systems. It aligns with the compliance requirements listed within the EU AI Act and other similar rules.
Kris Marszalek, the Co-Founder and CEO of Crypto.com expressed pride as he addressed the development.
“This certification is the latest step in our commitment to being a trusted and secure environment for our global user base, and an important step as we continue to leverage AI tools and technologies,” Marszalek, who recently published the AI.com domain for a whopping $70 million, said in his statement.
Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, and the Anecdotes AI are among other firms that hold this AIMS’ certification.
