In a wide-ranging interview with Kristen Welker on NBC News’ Meet the Press, U.S. President Donald Trump reinforced his pro-crypto stance stating that “crypto is important, because if we don’t do it, China is going to”

Speaking about the digital asset the president sounded gung-ho stating that “it’s new. It’s very popular. It’s very hot.” He added that during market downturns, crypto “stayed much stronger than other aspects of the market.”

The president was asked if he was profiting from his presidency, given the fact that he has his own official Trump (TRUMP) meme coin that has seen some huge swing in prices since his election. Trump replied by saying that he “was not profiting from anything.”

He went on to accuse the Biden administration of initially cracking down on crypto but later softening its stance for political gain.
