Stablecoin company Tether has announced a partnership with local cryptocurrency exchange Bitqik on Monday. The joint initiative is a bid to promote education on stablecoins and cryptocurrency in Laos—a small south-east asian nation which borders Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand.
This announcement forms one of Tether’s multiple collaborations with the public and private sectors rolled out this year, including its partnership with Rumble to create Rumble Wallet and another initiative with the United Nations.
“Bitqik is very pleased to collaborate with Tether, the largest company in the digital asset industry. The Bitqik Academy will organize activities to promote and educate the Lao community on blockchain technology and digital assets, including Bitcoin investment and the use of stablecoins, especially USD₮, the most widely used stablecoin in the Lao market,” said Bitqik CEO Virasack Viravong.
Specifically, the educational program will be targeting 10,000 members, and is expected to be carried out via seminars, roadshows, and online content.
“Financial inclusion is not only achieved by access but by having a clear understanding. This collaboration with Bitqik reflects our commitment to grassroots education and to empowering communities in Laos with the knowledge and tools to participate meaningfully in the digital economy,” said Tether’s CEO Paolo Ardoino.
At the time of writing, Tether’s market capitalization was $186.7 billion, according to Coingecko.
