Elon Musk-led X is planning to roll out a new feature called ‘Smart Cashtags.’ The aim of this feature will be to simplify access to information around stocks and crypto assets for the investor community on the social networking platform.
Nikita Bier, the head of product at X while sharing some details about the feature, said it will allow users to tap these cashtag tickers and obtain details like real-time prices of the assets. In addition, the feature will also fetch all mentions of that asset for investors to be part of related conversations.
“X is the best source for financial news — and hundreds of billions of dollars are deployed based on things people read here,” Bier said. “We are building Smart Cashtags that allow you to specify the exact asset (or smart contract) when posting a ticker.”
Bier shared a screenshot of how this feature would look. The feature will essentially let users search for their preferred asset, select it, and gather price details as well as market status.
The industry reaction to the development appears to be optimistic.
“Good to see bitcoin and crypto cashtags too,” Sumit Gupta, the founder of India’s CoinDCX exchange wrote under Bier’s post.
ByBit among others also jumped into the conversation saying, “Love the idea! Can’t wait for it to be implemented!”
While details on the feature remain awaited, Bier did ask community members to share their feedback on it, with a potential release slated for next month.
