AI firm Anthropic has invested a total of $50 billion in data centre infrastructure in America, with data centres to be built in New York and Texas in collaboration with cloud infrastructure company Fluidstack, as per an official press release.

“We’re getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren’t possible before. Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier,” said Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.

The investment is expected to create 800 permanent roles and 2,400 construction jobs.

The update comes as demand outpaces supply for suitable GPUs and facilities with the compute power sufficient to power AI enterprise applications.

Multiple companies in the technology sector are partnering with infrastructure firms to secure the resources they need to build their own AI products, such as Microsoft’s $9.7 billion deal with IREN and Nebius’s $3 billion deal with Meta.

Anthropic—which powers Claude, a group of LLM technologies capable of multiple applications—is also deepening its presence in Europe, with offices opened in Paris and Munich.
