Indian music maestro, A.R. Rahman is preparing to give his globally celebrated tunes an AI twist. On Friday, July 26, Rahman said met with OpenAI founder Sam Altman to discuss about a global virtual band named “Secret Mountain”. This collaboration reportedly aims to deepen the experiment of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with music.
The Oscar-winning music composer and singer posted a picture with Altman on Instagram, revealing that the two recently met at the latter’s office to discuss details on the project.
According to Rahman’s post, the initiative is looking “to empower and uplift Indian minds to use Al tools to address generational challenges and lead the way forward.”
Rahman had soft launched this project last year on YouTube through a video, that now has over one million views. The video showcased what looked like high-definition avatars of a group of individuals foraying into a musical world through immersive AI-backed storytelling.
According to reports, the visuals and storyline for this musical project have been conceptualised by two Mumbai-based firms — Qyuki Digital Media and Good Fellas Studio.
Preplexity AI CEO, Aravind Srinivas, also reportedly joined Rahman and Altman to outline the roadmap for this project.
For now, more details on the project remain awaited.
