Base Layer-2 Network Fixes Transaction Drop Issues, Returns to Normal

Base network announced on Wednesday that it has restored services after a brief downturn caused by configuration change to transaction propagation.

The Ethereum Layer-2 network facilitated by Coinbase has successfully restored network stability following some technical problems that occurred at the end of January.

Some users had complained of intermittent delays in transaction incorporation and an increase in failed transactions, which caused some disruption of activities on the network.

The resulting issues caused problems that made the network less user-friendly, which worried some developers and traders who depend on the Base network for fast and cheap transactions on the Ethereum network.

After troubleshooting and making some updates on the system, the network is now operating as expected, facilitating efficient transaction processing.

How did the disruption take place?

The disruption began on the 31st of January, and the Ethereum Layer 2 network was experiencing periods of high congestion, which resulted in some delayed or terminated transactions.

Furthermore, developers confirmed that block creation was ongoing but that users were experiencing unusually long wait times for transaction confirmations.

In an announcement, the Base team confirmed the cause of the issue, which was an infrastructure configuration change related to transaction propagation, which has now been resolved.

In the announcement, they reassure users that normal network operations are now back online and are working towards ensuring there are no similar occurrences in the future.

Base takes measures to prevent disruptions in future

In order to prevent such problems from occurring in the future, Base is improving its transaction system.

The team is making the transaction flow better by cutting down on peer-to-peer operations and changing how transactions wait in the mempool. This will make sure that transactions go through without a hitch, even when the network is busy.

Base will start making these changes in about a month. The network is also improving its alert and monitoring systems as it makes changes. This will help Base find and fix problems with transaction propagation more quickly.
