Binance has appointed a new co-CEO to lead the cryptocurrency exchange alongside Richard Teng, as per an announcement by the company.
The announcement was made during Binance Blockchain Week—a blockchain event happening in Abu Dhabi from December 3rd to 4th, 2025— by CEO Richard Teng in a keynote speech.
The official statement says Yi He has decades of experience in regulated financial markets.
In its formative years, Binance was led by Changpeng Zhao, who led the company to become the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.
A criminal lawsuit was filed by the SEC against Zhao in 2023, saying that he was responsible for enabling money laundering at Binance.
He served a four-month sentence in 2024. Zhao stopped being the CEO shortly after, passing operational responsibilities to Richard Teng, who was previously the CEO of Binance’s Singapore arm.
Yi He is a key part of Binance’s founding team. She currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer and has been heading Binance Labs from August 2022 onwards. She has also been in a long-term relationship with Changpeng Zhao since 2014.
Fractional leadership has been a strategy employed across various cryptocurrency companies, such as the recent hire of SharpLink Gaming’s co-CEO Joseph Chalom.
