Binance Wallet faces balance display lag after Trust Wallet glitch

NEWS IN BRIEF
  • Binance Wallet faces prolonged balance display lag following last week’s market crash, mirroring a similar issue that affected CZ-owned Trust Wallet.
  • Users report temporary access issues, with some claiming they couldn’t sell assets amid BNB price fluctuations.
  • Analysts attribute glitches to network congestion and pricing oracle strain, stressing that funds remain secure.

Binance Wallet continued to face balance display issues on Monday, days after Friday’s major crypto market crash. The self-custody wallet reported that it was “temporarily experiencing lag” due to network congestion, causing some users to see incomplete wallet data.

This information requires some buffering time to display. We are actively working on resolving this issue, Binance Wallet stated in an X post.

The issue followed a similar problem reported by Binance’s trading platform, where several altcoins displayed abnormal pricing data during the market downturn.

Users report difficulties in selling assets

While Binance Wallet did not confirm whether the issue affected transactions, several users claimed that the lag prevented them from interacting with their holdings.

One user complained of losing over $130 due to a 3.5% drop in BNB, saying they were unable to sell because of the technical glitch. Meanwhile, BNB (BNB$1,261.34) hit a new all-time high of $1,370 on Monday, according to Coinbase data, raising questions about the token’s liquidity and price movement amid the disruptions.

Trust Wallet cites a temporary data sync issue

The Binance Wallet outage followed a nearly identical issue reported by Trust Wallet, a self-custody platform owned by Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, on Sunday.

Trust Wallet said some users were unable to view their balances due to a “market data sync issue”, which was resolved within about four hours. However, some users continued to experience incorrect balance displays even after the fix.

The issue only affected the visibility of fiat balances due to a temporary market data sync error. All assets remained safe, and users’ onchain and self-custody experiences were fully unaffected.

Trust Wallet serves 17 million monthly active users and has over 210 million app installs globally.

Analysts link wallet glitches to market stress

According to Lucien Bourdon, a Bitcoin analyst at Trezor, both Binance Wallet and Trust Wallet likely suffered display errors because of extreme network congestion and oracle strain during Friday’s record liquidations.

He advised users to verify balances directly through blockchain explorers if wallet interfaces appear inaccurate a sentiment echoed by CZ, who emphasized that such incidents reflect “UI fragility under stress” rather than self-custody risks. At press time, no other major crypto wallets have reported similar interface issues.
