FIFA has moved its NFT platform to an Ethereum-compatible blockchain, according to an announcement made on Wednesday. The football association will be launching its own blockchain called the FIFA blockchain.

The NFT collection called FIFA Collect, currently on the Algorand blockchain, will shift to the FIFA blockchain as part of the migration. The move is scheduled to take place no later than May 20th, according to a migration FAQ by FIFA Collect.

Users will still be able to access their NFT collection by logging into their FIFA Collect accounts, but should expect some new upgrades as part of the shift to a new blockchain.

“The core experience will remain the same. You’ll still be able to access your collection by logging into your FIFA Collect account. However, some new features may be introduced over time as part of the upgrade,” the announcement said.

Users are supposed to re-import their digital collectibles before May 20th, 2025, to include them in the migration process. During the migration, the platform is expected to be temporarily unavailable for 12 hours. FIFA Collect will notify users of the exact time,  according to the announcement.
