The United Nations Development Programme and the Exponential Science Foundation have partnered to help accelerate the UNDP’s goal of providing education to governments around the world about blockchain technology, as per a report by UNDP’s Innovation for Development.

The UNDP plans to create an academy called the Government Blockchain Academy, which is expected to educate governments and will be focused on five academic pillars, which are inclusive digital finance, transparent governance, supply chain integrity, climate resilience, and digital identity solutions.

“At UNDP, we are committed to institutional innovation, including creating spaces for governments to explore and test frontier technologies,” said Innovation Team Leader Irena Cerovic.

Training workshops, online modules, and leadership forums will also be developed by the academy.

The UNDP has been collaborating with various cryptocurrency firms and blockchains to improve its own offerings. In December 2024, the UNDP expanded its blockchain education academy to give training to 24,000 people via a partnership with the Algorand blockchain. Then, in April 2025, UNDP joined hands with Blockchain for Good Alliance and EMURGO Labs to create an SDG blockchain accelerator.
