CEOs Elon Musk and Sam Altman had a social media spat on X on Tuesday after Musk accused Apple of favouring OpenAI, alleging the smartphone company has made it so that any company apart from the AI-centric firm will find it impossible to rank number 1 in the Apple store.
Apple yet to respond to Elon Musk’s claims
Apple has not yet officially responded to the claims put forward by the CEO of Tesla. The tycoon’s accusations come after Apple integrated ChatGPT into iPad, iPhones, Macs, and desktop products, as reported earlier by Coinheadlines.
“Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation. xAI will take immediate legal action,” said Musk.

Sam Altman promptly responded to Elon Musk’s accusation, saying, “This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn’t like,”

Musk shot back in the thread of Altman’s post, saying “You got 3M views on your bullshit post, you liar, far more than I’ve received on many of mine, despite me having 50 times your follower count!”
The bickering continued through the day, with Elon Musk referring to OpenAI’s CEO as “Scam Altman”, saying “Scam Altman lies as easily as he breathes,”
Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI, but he left in 2018 after disagreeing with other founders on the direction the company was heading, according to The New York Times.
