Tesla officially unveiled its first-ever Tesla Diner located in LA’s Media District on July 21. The diner promises to be a fusion of retro Americana, cutting-edge tech, and EV supercharging. The two-story diner blends nostalgia with futuristic design and sits atop 80 V4 Superchargers and two massive 45-foot LED screens and will be open 24×7.
What’s on the menu?
The menu has been curated by Chef Eric Greenspan and restaurateur Bill Chait and have all-day diner classics like burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken & more. Meals are delivered in Cybertruck-shaped trays, and come along with sides include fries, hashbrown bites, waffles, and market salads. Servers are on roller-skates and there is also an Optimus robot on popcorn duty, adding to the entertainment factor.
A theatrical experience
If you use the drive-through and are inside your Tesla, you can order via the Tesla touchscreen in your car or by using a geofenced app. In about 15 to 20 minutes, food prep would begin, and food would be delivered shortly. The outdoor Supercharger area called ‘Skypad’ doubles as a drive-in theater broadcasting sci-fi films and SpaceX launches. Audio syncs with Tesla vehicles’ sound systems. The outdoor venue is 5,500 sq ft, whereas the indoor venue, designed by Stantec and is 3,800 sq ft
Elon Musk praised the diner as “one of the coolest spots in LA” and hinted that, if successful, similar dine-and-charge sites will open at key Supercharger hubs and in cities worldwide. Musk first teased the outlet concept back in 2018, but the plans began to take shape only in 2023.
