Google Labs announced the debut of its new experimental AI tool that is designed to help brands generate personalized content immediately. The name of this tool is “Pomelli”, Google’s AI-focussed unit announced on Tuesday, October 28.
Pomelli will function like a generative AI chatbot and let brands interact with it. Brands will essentially be able to upload the link to their sites onto the chat window and generate audience-friendly content.
“Just enter your website, and Pomelli will understand your unique business identity to build effective campaigns tailored to your brand,” Google Labs said in its announcement post on X.
The platform is intended to help small and medium sized businesses generate on-brand social media campaigns without having to shell out for acquiring brand-focussed marketing insights and strategies.
The tool is capable of identifying the tone of any voice that is included on the website. It can also assess and suggest custom fonts, images and color palette to go with the deduced strategy.
“Enter your website, and Pomelli will analyze it and create a ‘Business DNA’ profile for your brand. By analyzing your website and existing images, Pomelli is able to automatically extract and understand your business’ unique brand identity,” senior project managers at Google Labs claimed in a blog post.
The development has sparked a flurry of mixed reactions on social media with some expressing excitement to try Pomelli out and the others expressing concerns around the implications of such AI services on the market.
“if you’re a general AI marketing product, what is stopping your users from moving to Google’s new product? and how do you expect to compete with a company that has infinite resources and distribution? the answer is, you can’t,” quipped Elliot Garreffa, the co-founder of GhostTeam.ai – a company that creates custom AI systems for businesses.
The beta version of the platform is first being made available for trials in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Google Labs has invited feedback on the platform.
