Meta has instructed its metaverse division to ramp up the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase productivity. Vishal Shah, Meta’s VP of Metaverse has reportedly circulated an internal memo asking the team to incorporate AI assistance in the assigned tasks.

“Think 5X, not 5 percent,” said Shah in his message that reiterated the “AI4P” ideology which stands for “AI for productivity”.

Essentially, Meta has directed developers to use AI to ramp up its programming and coding efforts by five times.

“Make Al a habit, not a novelty. This means prioritizing training and adoption for everyone, so that using Al becomes second nature—just like any other tool we rely on,” Wired quoted Shah as saying in his memo.

Shah said that engineers, designers, and bug fixers among others should integrate AI into major workflow and codebase.

“I want to see us go 5X faster by eliminating the frictions that slow us down. And 5X faster to get to how our products feel much more quickly. Imagine a world where anyone can rapidly prototype an idea, and feedback loops are measured in hours—not weeks,” Shah reportedly added in his message.

This directive from Shah comes just a month after Meta added AI tools for developers working on its Horizon metaverse ecosystems.

Owing to the rise AI advancement, several corporations are now accelerating efforts to train their workforces in using AI training.

Last month, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong had said that 40 percent of the daily code for the exchange is already being generated by AI. By the end of October, the exchange wishes to have 50 percent code to be generated by AI. At the time, Armstrong had said that staff members who show reluctance to use AI could be laid off.
