As voters and speculators watch the New York City mayoral race with anticipation, a polymarket X post shows Zohran Mamdani to be the clear favorite with election odds of 95%.
Former NYC governor Andrew Cuomo is shown having slim odds of 5%, and although Curtis Sliwa is still in the race, his odds of winning are considered low.
Business tycoon Elon Musk has also pitched in his opinion on X, appearing to deliberately get the spelling of Mamdani’s name wrong, while spelling his own support for Cuomo loud and clear on the post.
Alongside Polymarket, an earlier Kalshi poll had shown Mamdani comfortably ahead of his opponents, giving him an 83% vote, around the same time, pro-cryptocurrency candidate Eric Adams said he would be dropping out of the race.
Adams faced a medley of issues that gave him trouble during his time and efforts in the race, including a lack of funds and obstacles connected to running as an independent.
Mamdani has still not clarified his stance on cryptocurrency, making his position unclear for crypto enthusiasts and the crypto-community in New York.
As of now, the main points of his policy are rent freezes, subsidized groceries, a 0-cost childcare program, and fare-free bus services, all of which were made as proposals or campaign pledges. Mamdani is considered a democrat socialist.
