Hyperscaler firm Pure Data Centres said it plans to spend more than 1 billion euros to develop data centre infrastructure, as per an official press release.
The official statement by the firm says it is Europe’s largest data centre lease deal with plans to develop a site that is a 78MW campus, which is located in Westpoort, Amsterdam.
The initiative is expected to provide 80 permanent jobs, including roles for engineers, maintenance staff, security, and administrative functions and 1,000 more roles throughout the supply chain.
“Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most constrained markets for digital infrastructure and Pure DC has again demonstrated its ability to unlock new low-latency, high-quality capacity,” said CEO Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng.
“This deal demonstrates how our specialist teams have the creativity and approach to deliver compelling proposals – delivering solutions for local authorities, potential customers, and our supply chain,”
Development is expected to start by 2026.
The update is just one of many in the sector, with investment firms and governments pouring in billions of dollars to make infrastructure that can power sectors with massive requirements in energy and data, with multiple tech firms also pledging money towards data centres.
