Award-winning airline Qatar Airways has formally entered into a partnership with IT conglomerate Accenture to bolster aviation standards through the use of AI technology, as per an official press release.
Qatar Airways to enhance AI functionality through ‘AI Skyways’
The partnership is expected to position Qatar Airways as a frontrunner in AI particularly for aviation through the creation of ‘AI Skyways’, a platform that will be delivering all AI-related initiatives for the gulf-based airline, along with ensuring responsible practices and implementation of solutions using the technology across multiple use cases such as optimization of flight schedules, improving predictive maintenance, and user-friendly customer interactions.
“Together, Qatar Airways and Accenture are applying innovative technologies and new ways of working to create new value for the airline and its customers. Our AI Skyways partnership is a key engine of this ambition, embedding and scaling AI to create outstanding travel experiences for passengers and deliver greater value to the airline group,” said Accenture CEO Julie Sweet.

The update comes as Gulf-based airlines—Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways— retool and upgrade their premium travel offerings, investing billions of dollars as consumers shift their preferences towards high-end travel, according to The National. The major changes include an overhaul of aircraft interiors coupled with an upgrade of front cabin services through the addition of luxury kits and fine dining meals.
On the other hand, low-cost carrier airlines continue to struggle, particularly in America. A notable example is Spirit Airlines in America, which is struggling to manage its debt, with the company posting an official ‘going concern’ in its latest quarterly report.
