Saudi-based AI startup Humain has plans to launch its own artificial intelligence-based operating system where users will be able to tell the computer to perform its own tasks, as per a Reuters report.
The update comes after Saudi Arabia was in talks with private equity firms Blackstone and BlackRock for billions of dollars worth of investment into Humain, as per a Bloomberg report.
The new product is called Humain-1 and is positioned to be an alternative to traditional OS systems that have dominated the market, such as Windows and macOS. Alongside the scheduled launch of its OS, the firm is also planning to set up 6 gigawatts of data center capacity, although the location for the infrastructure is unclear.

While AI integrations into OS systems have taken place, the models are either in the prototype stage or the technology has been included in various use cases, except for computer interfaces, making Humain’s product the first mass-scale attempt.
Currently, instances of AI-based integrations into OS include Google Fuschia, Microsoft Azure Sphere OS, IBM Watson OS, Ubuntu AI, and Tesla’s AI operating system used for its autonomous vehicles.
Humain was founded in May this year and is a major AI investment carried out by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
