Low-cost air carrier Spirit Airlines will be furloughing 1,800 flight attendants as the company continues to struggle with its core business.

The update comes a month after the airline said it would be furloughing 270 pilots to regain profitability, around the same time when the company posted a going concern in its quarterly report, citing its inability to comply with liquidity requirements.

“Because of the uncertainty of successfully completing the initiatives to comply with the minimum liquidity covenants and of the outcome of discussions with Company stakeholders, management has concluded there is substantial doubt as to the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern within 12 months from the date these financial statements are issued,” read the quarterly report.

Spirit Airlines has been grappling with high levels of debt and years of financial losses. It was supposed to merge with JetBlue in 2024, but was prevented by the U.S. Department of Justice, according to Reuters.
