OKX enters AI agent race with launch of OnchainOS toolkit

OKX jumps into AI agent race with new OnchainOS toolkit

OKX has introduced an AI-focused upgrade to OnchainOS, its developer platform, positioning it as core infrastructure for autonomous crypto trading agents.

The update is intended to help developers build AI-based systems that are capable of analyzing the market and making trades autonomously.

The new layer of AI incorporates other components such as wallet infrastructure and real-time on-chain data feeds into one execution layer.

The idea behind the upgrade is to simplify the process for AI agents to interact with decentralized markets by using the new tools to move assets and respond to market situations more effectively.

AI agents replace manual trade coding

Instead of programming each step of a transaction, like aggregating price information, authorizing tokens, calculating gas costs, and executing a swap, a developer can simply instruct an AI agent to do a task at a very basic level with OKX’s upgrade.

For instance, a developer might instruct an AI agent to exchange Ethereum for USDC if the price dips below a certain level. The rest of the process will be taken care of by the system.

This is just one aspect of a larger trend of crypto and AI converging. The blockchain AI market is projected to grow sharply from $6 billion in 2024 to $50 billion by 2030.

Traders are already experimenting with such tools, including cases where retail users deployed AI to detect pricing “glitches” on prediction platforms and execute trades automatically.

OKX OnchainOS links 60+ blockchains

OKX said its upgraded OnchainOS platform supports more than 60 blockchain networks and offers smart routing across over 500 decentralized exchanges.

That broad connectivity allows AI agents and developers to tap into deep liquidity across multiple ecosystems.

According to the company, the wider OnchainOS stack already handles around 1.2 billion API calls per day and roughly $300 million in daily trading volume, indicating that the new AI layer is built on infrastructure that is already live and operating at scale.

Developers can access the system in several ways. These include natural language “AI Skills,” integration through Model Context Protocol for coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor, and direct REST APIs for those who want more granular control.

The platform made the OnchainOS became available globally to developers starting Tuesday, March 3.
