Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly set to give-into the agentic AI hype as he starts planning a co-CEO position for a personal AI assistant. Essentially, this Meta-native AI agent will add efficiency to internal communication, which is often hindered and sometimes even lost in the corporate ecosystem.
Zuckerberg, starting with himself, is attempting to gradually infuse the AI culture into the everyday working of Meta employees, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report citing sources familiar with the matter and internal message boards.
The AI agent will automate the information retrieval process and cut delays caused due to data filtrating through a multi-level C-suite corporate structure.
As per the WSJ report, the AI assistant is under development. Zuckerberg, who is reportedly testing it along the way, is already using it to access communication faster compared to receiving information that traditional hierarchical settings would allow.
The future of Meta looks decorated with AI as Zuckerberg starts doubling down on adopting the technology to stay competitive in the market. Crypto giant Coinbase, for instance, has already dedicated 50 percent of its internal coding tasks to AI and has fired staff who were not ready to adopt the technology.
Zuckerberg is reportedly charting an elaborate network of internal AI network. The WSJ report has claimed that staff members at the tech giant are already using internal tools like MyClaw and Second Brain to tap into chat logs, files, task organizations, and insights arrangement among other similar requirements.
While Meta is yet to confirm or deny the WSJ report, the public reaction to the news expresses major excitement. It is, however, notable that Meta’s pivot to AI in day-to-day functioning could result in the reorganization of its teams and subsequent job cuts.
Meta reported a total revenue of $200.97 billion for 2025, clocking a 22 percent annual growth. In its fourth quarter of last year, it reported a revenue of $59.89 billion — a 24 percent year-over-year surge — and a net income of $22.77 billion.
Announcing its Q4 result in January, Zuckerberg had mentioned that AI will dramatically change the way Meta works. Meta’s CFO Susan Li had also, at the earnings call, said that Meta’s per engineer output has risen by 30 percent since involving AI agents for the job since the start of 2025.
