Morgan Stanley has released a research note suggesting that Apple could capture a major share of the emerging humanoid robotics market in the future. The bank sees Apple’s revenue growing on an annual basis to around $133 billion by 2040, led by its robotics division.
The note cites Apple’s strengths of hardware integration, chip design, ecosystem lock-in, and brand trust, which can catapult it to the forefront to dominate consumer robotics as the category matures over time. Morgan Stanley suggests humanoid robots could become the next consumer electronics frontier, where household AI assistants transition from screens and speakers to physical presence. A report by the bank in May, suggested that the humanoids market could surpass $5 trillion by 2050.
What we know about Apple’s robot project
Apple is reportedly developing a household humanoid assistant, designed to handle everyday tasks and interact with users through its existing ecosystem. It will integrate Siri, Vision Pro interfaces, along with Apple Intelligence to all come together. Although no official launch date has been confirmed, internal timelines reportedly place prototypes in testing and commercial rollout sometime in the early 2030s. Early analyst expectations suggest pricing could land in the $10,000–$30,000 range, similar to early electric cars and high-end robotics systems.
Market already crowded with giants
The humanoid robot race is picking up pace. Tesla is testing its Optimus robot in its factories. Optimus is said to have entered limited internal production in 2025, with wider availability expected to open up in 2026. Elon Musk has suggested a long‑term target price of $20,000 to $30,000 for the robot once scaled.
Although humanoids are still under development, there could be more than 1 billion by 2050, with 90% used for industrial and commercial purposes, the Morgan Stanley report estimates. Apple is entering a fiercely competitive space, going up against Tesla, Boston Dynamics, and a surge of Chinese startups that are rapidly advancing humanoid and domestic robotics.
Looking ahead, Morgan Stanley anticipates Apple will unveil a consumer robot by 2027 that functions as both a smart home hub and a personal assistant. Over the next decade, the company could evolve from compact tabletop devices to full-scale humanoid and industrial robots
